Music Lessons - Barnt Green Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: September 2024
1. Changes to Terms and Conditions
1.1 These terms may have changed since you last reviewed them.
1.2 For a list of changes and when they were made, please send an email request to [email protected].
2. Service Overview
2.1 We, Music Academy Midlands Ltd, offer music lessons at our Barnt Green location, focusing on instruments such as Drum Kit, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, and Keys. These lessons are available as both 1-2-1 and group sessions, with a strong emphasis on performance and band integration.
2.2 Lessons are held in a school building in Barnt Green. We’ve chosen this setting because it is a dedicated, safe space for education, with excellent facilities and plenty of room. This choice also supports our business ethos of giving back to the local community, including providing free services to local schools and community centres.
2.3 Our lessons run throughout most of the academic year, including some holidays. We take a two-week break during the Winter/Christmas holiday. In August, lessons are available on a limited, week-by-week basis, depending on your teacher’s availability. These lessons are flexible and charged individually.
2.4 Payments for lessons are spread evenly over 11 months of the year (excluding August), with our lesson schedule following the academic year and resetting at the end of July.
3. Enrolment and Fees
3.1 Enrolment can be done online through our website or by contacting our team directly. We’ll guide you through the process and help you find a suitable time slot.
3.2 Our standard lessons are £97 per month for a 30-minute weekly session. If you want more time to rock out, just ask us about pricing for longer sessions.
3.3 Your monthly fee covers a minimum of 44 lessons per year. Depending on the calendar, you may receive more lessons in some months than others. If we do not meet the minimum quota of lessons, we will either refund the difference or apply a credit towards the following year.
3.4 Payments are set up via direct debit and are taken on the 1st or 15th of each month. You will receive an invoice and a direct debit notification before each payment is due. If any corrections are needed, they can be handled through the same system, and you are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.
4. Attendance and Cancellations
4.1 Regular attendance is key to making the most out of your lessons. Consistency in both lessons and practice is essential for progress. If you miss a lesson, we do not offer refunds, but your teacher will provide a practice video and updated tips through your portal to keep you on track.
4.2 In August, lessons are scheduled individually and are not part of the regular schedule. These lessons are offered based on the teacher’s availability and are charged on a week-by-week basis.
4.3 We do not offer refunds for missed lessons due to our commitment to protecting our teachers’ time and income. Unlike other music schools with 24-hour cancellation policies, we prioritize our teachers’ motivation and security. If a cancellation is made more than 7 days in advance, we will do our best to reschedule the lesson. However, if rescheduling is not possible, no refund or credit will be provided.
5. Instruments and Equipment
5.1 We offer instrument rentals for some instruments, subject to availability. If we do not have what you need in stock, we can recommend reliable rental options.
5.2 If your child’s instrument needs tuning or repair, we encourage learning basic maintenance skills as part of their musical journey. For more complex repairs, we can guide you on the best steps to take.
6. Exams and Certifications
6.1 Exams are scheduled throughout the year, depending on the type of exam your child is taking. Some exams require digital recordings that need to be uploaded through the exam board’s website, as these boards operate independently from Music Academy. We are here to guide you through this process if needed.
6.2 There are additional fees for exam entry, which vary depending on the grade and exam board. We’ll provide all the necessary details well in advance.
7. Data Protection
7.1 We use your personal data as set out in our Privacy Notice. For more information, please refer to our Privacy Notice: https://musicacademymidlands.com/privacy-policy/.
8. Complaints and Disputes
8.1 If you have any complaints or concerns about our services, please contact our team at [email protected].
8.2 These terms are governed by English law. You can bring claims against us in the English courts. If you live in Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims against us in the courts of the country where you reside.
9. Other Important Terms
9.1 We can transfer our contract with you to another organisation, but we will notify you if this happens.
9.2 You can only transfer your contract with us to someone else if we agree to this.
9.3 This contract is between you and us. No other person has the right to enforce any of its terms.
9.4 If any part of this contract is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the rest will still apply.
9.5 Even if we delay enforcing this contract, we can still enforce it later.
